Message from Chairman
During Panchayat period (1961 to 1990) there was only one Secondary school at Humla,i.e at Dharma. At that time, the importance of Education was not much valued and was totally ignored. In 1973 I went to Jumla to get education at Lower secondary education after completing my primary level education at Muchu School. That scarcity, painful and struggles to get education has completely motivated me to establish one center for education at my own place, so that the Humli children don’t have to migrate to other parts of Nepal in search of basic rights to Education.
In the year 1988 I met David Friedlander who visited Humla to do research to fulfill his academic purpose. While collecting information our friendship was developed. The later year in 1989, there was letter from Mr. David about sponsoring my two kids at Kathmandu for education. This was a great pleasure for me. I brought my children down at KTM in 2000. This has further encouraged me to establish an educational institution at Humla so that we cannot have to go outside to districts in search of education, so that the children can have their education at their own surroundings, families and environment.
One of my biggest dream came true with many helping hands. On behalf of Himalayan Children Society, I extend my warm thank you to Adara Development, Nepal Schul Project and many important partners and Stakeholders. It is because of all your support, trust, investment and contribution that plays an incredible role to this Child education projects through which we are able to graduate more than 200 students from Yalbang School. Beyond this we are able to control the flow of students from Humla, able to develop a model education of Public Private Partnership approach in one of the remotest district of Nepal.
Himalayan Children Society itself will keep evolving, so that we can continue to contribute for sharing our best practices, knowledge and innovations to replicate the example of Model Education to other districts of Nepal.
