LAMALI
David Friedlander Visit to Humla in 2013
In the year 1988 David Friedlander came to Humla for his research project and met Kumar Lama there. During his visit the friendship between Kumar and David was established when Kumar helped David to collect information on Polyandry system at Upper Humla and the traditional folk songs during marriage ceremony. At that time the only person from Upper Humla who had formal education up to grade 10 was Kumar Lama. In the year 1990, young David gifted Kumar a very precious gift. The gift was a bumper offer to sponsor two among five kids of Kumar in a good school at Kathmandu. Later in the year 1993, Mr. Friedlander established Lamali, a company that imports handmade crafts from Nepal and India. David’s gift of education has highly inspired and encouraged Kumar to start our Education projects for other children in Humla. Lamali has been donating to our project since the year 2000 A.D.
